Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to VERKINA (“we”, “us”, “our”). VERKINA is a voice translation application developed by VERKINA TECH, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Android application.

By using VERKINA, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what VERKINA does not do:

• We do not record, store, or transmit your voice recordings to any server
• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
• We do not track your location
• We do not share your data with advertisers or third-party marketers
• We do not sell your data to anyone
• We do not require account creation or registration

3. Information Stored On Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only. It never leaves your phone unless you explicitly share it.

• Translation History — your past translations (text only, no audio) stored via SharedPreferences
• Language Preferences — your selected languages, dialect preferences, and voice settings
• App Settings — voice gender, speaking speed, and other configuration

This data is stored using Android’s SharedPreferences and remains entirely on your device. Uninstalling VERKINA permanently deletes this data.

4. Permissions We Request

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)

Required for voice translation. Audio is processed locally using Google’s Speech-to-Text on-device API for offline features, or transmitted securely to Google’s STT service for online translation. Audio is never stored by VERKINA.

Internet (INTERNET)

Required for online translation features. Used to access Google ML Kit Translation API for language translation. No personal data is transmitted — only the text to be translated.

Offline features (Offline First mode) work entirely without internet.

5. Third-Party Services

VERKINA uses the following third-party services for core functionality:

• Google ML Kit (On-Device Translation) — processes text on-device. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Flutter TTS — text-to-speech functionality. Processed locally on your device.
• Google Speech-to-Text — converts your spoken words to text. Audio may be sent to Google’s servers for processing. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

We do not control the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

6. Children’s Privacy

VERKINA is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at support@verkina.com and we will take immediate action.

7. Data Security

Since VERKINA stores all data locally on your device and does not transmit personal data to our servers, the security of your data depends primarily on your device’s security settings. We recommend:

• Keeping your Android device updated with the latest security patches
• Using screen lock / biometric authentication on your device
• Not granting VERKINA additional permissions beyond what it requests

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Delete translation history — tap “Clear” in the History screen within the app
• Delete all app data — uninstall the app. All data is permanently deleted.
• Opt out of online translation — use Offline First mode to keep all processing on-device

9. Terms of Use

By using VERKINA, you agree to use the app for lawful purposes only. You may not use VERKINA to:

• Translate content that promotes violence, hate speech, or illegal activity
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
• Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws in your jurisdiction

VERKINA is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We are not responsible for mistranslations or errors. For critical communications (medical, legal), please use a certified interpreter.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes, we will notify users through the app or via email if we have your contact information.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
